The 4G fibreboard box is the most widely used UN-approved outer packaging for DG shipments by air and sea. Tested and certified with specific inner packagings.
Special Packaging / IATA DGR
The 4GV "special packaging" accepts glass, plastic or steel inner containers interchangeably. More flexible than 4G — approved for liquids and solids across all Packing Groups.
IMDG / ADR Certified
Heavy-duty steel drum for bulk liquids and solid chemicals. Removable lid allows full-mouth loading. Handles aggressive chemicals including concentrated acids and alkalis.
IATA DGR / IMDG Certified
HDPE drum for corrosives, acids and alkalis. Lightweight and chemically resistant. Widely accepted by air and sea carriers.
IATA DGR / IMDG / ADR
Combines a plastic inner with a steel outer for dual-layer protection. Ideal for Class 3, 6.1 and 8 goods requiring both chemical resistance and mechanical strength.
IATA PI 650 / PI 602
Triple-layer packaging for infectious substances and diagnostic specimens. Mandatory for UN 3373 and UN 2814/2900.
What happens at this stage?
Every DG shipment begins with a precise identification of the substance or article. Our trained DGR experts review the material against the IATA Dangerous Goods List (Table 4.2) and applicable regulatory supplements.
Why packaging selection is critical
The wrong packaging is one of the most common causes of DG rejection at airline acceptance counters. MFLS selects from IATA-approved, UN performance-tested packaging to match the exact substance, mode of transport, and packing group.
What must appear on every DG package
Physical packing is performed exclusively by MFLS staff certified under IATA DGR Category 6. Every package is verified before dispatch by a second Cat 6 signatory. Labels and marks must meet exact IATA size, colour, and placement standards.
The document chain that clears your shipment
DG documentation is legally binding. Any error on the Shipper's Declaration can result in shipment rejection, airline penalties, or regulatory prosecution. MFLS prepares all documents under a dual-check process.
Final compliance gate before the aircraft
Carrier acceptance is the last checkpoint before the shipment is loaded. Airline DG acceptance staff perform an independent check against IATA DGR. MFLS pre-coordinates all requirements to eliminate rejection risk at this stage.
